The next step in the process of becoming an American Citizen
After submitting the USCIS N-400 application for naturalization, the next step in the process of becoming an American Citizen, is to prepare for the Naturalization Interview or Citizenship Test. The naturalization exam is divided into four parts: the civics test questions, the reading part, the writing part and the speaking part. The USCIS guidelines to pass the Citizenship Test are as follows:
Civics Test:
There are 100 civics questions on the citizenship test. During your naturalization interview, you will be asked up to 10 questions from the list of 100 questions. You must correctly answer at least 6 of the 10 questions to pass the civics test.
Reading:
You must read one out of three sentences correctly to show that you have an ability to read in English.
Writing:
You must write one out of three sentences correctly to show that you have an ability to write in English.
Speaking:
The USCIS interviewer will determine your ability to speak English based on you N-400 application. Now that you know what will be required to pass the naturalization exam, how do you go about studying for it? For the civics test part, how best do you learn? If you want to just study all the 100* USCIS questions and answers, you can use our citizenship test interactive flashcards. Each flashcard has the question and on the reverse side the answer(s). You can discard or randomly shuffle the citizenship test flashcard question as you learn. Choose the correct answer and take the quiz as many times as needed to learn the answer. Each citizenship test question and answer is also available in audio on the quiz; you can listen to the question and practice your response. Perhaps it would be easier for you to learn citizenship through a lesson and by taking shorter quizzes of all 100 of the citizenship test questions.
